1966 Topps Venezuelan Complete Set: #1 PSA Registry! (370)

Starting Bid - $2,000, Sold For - $11,258

Unbelievably ultra high-grade complete 370-card set of 1966 Topps Venezuelan cards. This is the finest set in the world and the number-one set on the PSA Registry! The extremely rare Topps Venezuelan issues are among the most fascinating sets of the 1960s. The first 370 cards of Topps’ 1966 baseball set (# 1-370) were reprinted on a darker cardboard stock for sale in the Venezuelan market. They are identical in design to the regular-issue Topps’ cards. This set is far from Mint condition, but is in extraordinary high grade for this unusual issue. Each card has been graded and encapsulated by PSA. The set includes one NM-MT 8 (OC), twenty-three NM 7s, one EX-MT+ 6.5, 122 EX-MT 6s, three EX+ 5.5s, 133 EX 5s, eight VG-EX+ 4.5s, fifty-nine VG-EX 4s, three VG+ 3.5s, eight VG 3s, seven GOOD 2s, and two PR 1s. The PSA registry overall weighted GPA rating is 5.01. A set like this does not just happen to come together by chance, especially for Topps Venezuelan baseball. This set has been carefully assembled over a period of many years with great effort by an extremely dedicated advanced collector who had a special appreciation for this issue. It is by far the finest set of its type ever assembled. This is an extraordinary set! The PSA grades are as follows: One NM-MT 8 (OC): #125 Brock. Twenty-three NM 7: #46, 95, 104, 128, 139 (OC), 140, 143, 148, 150 Colavito, 163, 164, 182, 185, 186, 193, 236, 263, 270, 297, 334, 336, 358, and 365 Maris (OC). Though it receives little attention because rarely found in high grade, the Topps Venezuelan cards are among the most unusual and scarce baseball-card sets of the decade, and are virtually never seen in complete-set form. This is only the second complete set we have ever seen or offered. Each card can be viewed on the PSA website (http://www.psacard.com/PSASETREGISTRY/alltimeset.aspx?s=92192&ac=1). Total: 370 cards. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $5,000+. SOLD FOR $11,258
