1971 Topps Complete PSA-Graded NM-MT 8 Set: #11 PSA Set Registry (752)

Starting Bid - $5,000, Sold For - $18,960

Offered is one of the most extraordinary ultra high-grade complete sets of 1971 Topps baseball cards ever assembled. Every single card in the set (all 752 cards) is graded PSA NM-MT 8 with no qualifiers! The black flush-to-the-border design of the 1971 Topps set makes this issue particularly challenging to collect in extremely high grade. This ultra high-grade set has been assembled one card at a time by an extremely dedicated collector with an uncompromising commitment to condition and eye-appeal over a period of many years, with the goal of completing the entire set in a grade of PSA NM-MT 8 across-the-board, and with all cards being carefully screened for only top-quality examples in all respects. The offered set is the result of his tremendous collecting effort. This is one of the finest sets of this popular 1970s issue we have ever seen or offered. This set is listed on the PSA Set Registry under "REA Spring 2012 Auction." It is the eleventh-highest graded set ever assembled. As any collector of high-grade 1971 Topps cards knows, the assembly of any entire 1971 Topps set with every card across the board in PSA NM-MT 8 condition, is extremely challenging and extraordinary. PSA grading composite: 752 cards are graded NM-MT 8: including #5 Munson, 20 Jackson (HOF), 26 Blyleven RC (HOF), 50 McCovey (HOF), 55 Carlton (HOF), 100 Rose, 140 Perry (HOF), 160 Seaver (HOF), 180 Kaline (HOF), 210 Carew (HOF), 250 Bench (HOF), 300 B. Robinson (HOF), 341 Garvey RC, 380 T. Williams (HOF), 400 Aaron (HOF), 513 Ryan (HOF), 525 Banks (HOF), 530 Yastrzemski (HOF), 550 Killebrew (HOF), 570 Palmer (HOF), 580 Perez (HOF), 600 Mays (HOF), 605 Cepeda (HOF), 625 Brock (HOF), 630 Clemente (HOF), 640 F. Robinson (HOF), 650 Allen SP, 688 Anderson SP (HOF), 700 Powell SP, 709 Baylor/Baker RC, and 740 Aparicio SP (HOF). This set has been assembled with great care over a period of many years, with a concern for all factors, but with a special consideration for overall eye-appeal, which is evident throughout. Also please note that none of these cards have been submitted for review for the recently introduced PSA half-grades. There is no question that a great number of these cards would be awarded higher half-grades if submitted for review. This is an extraordinary and simply spectacular high-grade complete set of one of the most condition-sensitive of all card sets from any era. One of the finest sets in the world that has been or that ever will be assembled of this classic Topps issue. The total SMR value for the individual cards is $19,290. Total: 752 cards. Reserve $5,000. Estimate $10,000/$15,000+. SOLD FOR $18,960
