Circa 1940 Babe Ruth Single-Signed Ball
Starting Bid - $2,000, Sold For - $15,405
Addendum. According to the accompanying James Spence LOA, "Ink remnants on the south panel suggest other writing at one time existed."Official American League (Harridge) ball signed by Babe Ruth across the sweet spot. Ruth's signature has been beautifully scripted in blue fountain pen and grades "9." This is a gorgeous and ideal-for-display Ruth single-signed ball! Although the manufacturer's stampings are extremely faded, upon close examination enough can be seen to accurately designate it as an official American League ball dating between the years 1934 and 1945. The ball displays light soiling, as well as a few minor surface blemishes, and is in Excellent condition overall. The desirability of Babe Ruth signed baseballs has never waned over the years and it seems the supply, which is ample, will never suffice to meet the ever-growing demand. Strictly in terms of the signature, this is about as fine a Ruth ball as one could hope to obtain: it is boldly executed, perfectly centered on the sweet spot, and contrasts beautifully against the light colored surface. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000/$8,000. SOLD FOR $15,405
