Mickey Mantle Memorabilia Collection with Five Signed Balls

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,778

Collection of five Mickey Mantle signed baseballs, as well as a few additional unsigned items commemorating the fabled career of "The Mick." This group originates from an old-time collector, who obtained all of the signatures in person at various signing shows in the 1970s and 1980s. Each of the balls is an official American League (Brown) ball and has been signed in blue ink across the sweet spot (grading "9" or "10"). Three of the balls display light-to-moderate toning, as well as a few light surface blemishes, while the other two display moderate toning. Without reference to the toning, all of the balls are in Excellent to Mint condition. The remaining three items in the collection, none of which has been signed by Mantle, are comprised of the following: 1) 1987 limited edition "Yankee Stadium" commemorative bat issued by the Cooperstown Bat Company. Ideally, the bat is numbered "536/1000," with the number corresponding to Mantle's lifetime home run total. 34 inches in length. Mint condition. 2) 33 1/3 rpm record titled A Day to Remember. This record was given out to fans at Yankees Old Timers' Day in August 1969. The record records the ceremony on June 8th of that year when the Yankees retired Mickey Mantle's number "7." The record is in Excellent to Mint condition and is complete with its original dust jacket (Ex). 3) 1965 Mickey Mantle Old London Coin (Ex-Mt). Total: 8 items. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,778
