Exceptional and very rarely offered pair of cards from the N412 "Presidents, Statesmen, Actresses" series. Issued in 1888 with Seal of North Carolina Plug Cut Tobacco produced by Marburg Bros., the set features sepia images of notable figures from a variety of disciplines, highlighted by Presidents Grant and Lincoln as well as actress Lillian Russell. Measuring 2-1/2 x 4-1/16 inches, the cards depicts each subject in a portrait pose with "Seal of North Carolina Plug Cut" above and his or her name underneath. On the reverse of each card is boldly printed advertising for the tobacco. Each card in this lot is professionally graded and encapsulated by SGC: Ulysses S. Grant (GOOD 30, identified as "Gen." on this card) and Abraham Lincoln (FAIR 20). This is a very attractive pair from this scarce nineteenth-century set! Total: 2 cards. Opening Bid $100.
