Collection of three quality baseball pinbacks: 1) Circa 1932 Babe Ruth movie advertising pinback. This extremely rare pin features a portrait of Ruth and was issued by Universal Pictures. This pin advertises a series of baseball instructional shorts titled "Play Ball with Babe Ruth" which was released in 1932 and which featured Ruth teaching youngsters the finer points of the game. This is easily the finest example of this significant rarity that we have ever seen. It is in MINT condition. The original Philadelphia Badge Company back paper is complete and intact on the reverse. 2) 1929 Certified Ice Cream Rogers Hornsby. Extremely strong example of the key Hall of Famer from this rare advertising pin set. Because they are "lithos" (printed directly on metal), Certified Ice Cream pins are very easily scratched and scuffed, and are rarely found this sharp. This example of Hornsby is crisp and clean, with no scratches whatsoever, and only a hint of wear on the curl as should be expected with lithos (visible only from reverse). Excellent condition. 3) Though not rare, the circa 1935 "Member Babe Ruth Baseball Club" celluloid pinback is a classic. This is a virtually perfect Nr/Mt-Mt example. These three pins have been consigned by an old-time political collector, who happened to come across these in political pinback collections in years past. This is an impressive trio of baseball pinbacks including two particularly significant rarities. Total 3 pinbacks. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $1,044.00
