1975 Topps Mini Unopened Cello Box (24 Packs) Ex-Conlon

  • Sold For: $1,763
  • Year: 1975
  • Auction: 2010 spring
  • Lot #: 808
  • Auction Category: Postwar Baseball Cards (1948-present)

Complete original unopened cello box of 1975 Topps Mini baseball. This cello box was among the group of two unopened cases that were from the Charlie Conlon Estate that were consigned to the May 2009 REA auction. This lot has been consigned directly from the buyer of the two unopened 1975 Topps cello cases from the legendary Conlon collection. The box houses twenty-four cello packs, with each pack containing eighteen cards, for a total of 432 cards. The 1975 Topps Mini set includes the rookie cards of Hall of Famers George Brett, Robin Yount, and Gary Carter, and many other stars, including Schmidt, Aaron, Ryan, and Jackson. The 1975 Mini cards are 20% smaller than the standard Topps cards and were test marketed only in Michigan and certain areas of the West Coast. Aside from their smaller size, they are otherwise identical to the standard 1975 Topps cards. The colored flush-to-the-border design of the 1975 Topps Mini set makes this issue particularly challenging to collect in extremely high grade. While we cannot state with certainty, it is highly probable that within these packs are numerous cards, both stars and commons, that would be ideal candidates for professional grading. The packs are in Nr/Mt-Mt condition. The box is Excellent. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $1,763
