Complete set of all six Jackie Robinson comic books issued by Fawcett Publications between the years 1950 and 1952. When Fawcett published the first Jackie Robinson comic book in May 1950, it never intended to issue any others, which is the reason why the first issue is unnumbered. However, once Fawcett realized how popular it was with kids, they quickly decided to issue subsequent books, all of which were then properly numbered. What makes these comic books so appealing to collectors today is that all feature beautiful full-color photos, not illustrations, of Robinson on each front cover. All of the books display a number of condition flaws common to Golden Age comics, including small tears and/or minor creasing to the covers, slight separation to the covers along the spine, resale notations and/or stamps on the covers, and slightly toned pages. Individually, the comics grade as follows: #1 (unnumbered; Fr-Gd); #2 (Vg); #3 (Gd); #4 (Fr-Gd); #5 (Vg); and #6 (Gd-Vg). Despite the technically accurate grades, each book still displays beautifully and is a fine representative copy from this desirable series. Total: 6 books. Reserve $100. Estimate $300+.
