1914 E145 Cracker Jack #66 Nap Lajoie

  • Sold For: $5,629
  • Year: 1914
  • Auction: 2012 spring
  • Lot #: 358
  • Auction Category: Prewar Baseball Cards (1900-1941)

Graded EX/NM 80 by SGC. Extremely attractive high-grade example of key Hall of Famer Nap Lajoie from the 1914 Cracker Jack #144 series. This is an incredibly high-grade 1914 Cracker Jack example with sharp corners, flawless color, and virtually perfect centering. This card is bright and clean, both front and back, and has absolutely no caramel staining as is almost always found on #144 series cards. The 1914 Cracker Jacks, of course, are far rarer to find in high grade than their 1915 counterparts, because the 1914 #144 series cards were only issued in boxes of Cracker Jack. It is rare to find any #144 series Cracker Jack in such high grade, let alone a high-grade example of a significant Hall of Famer such as Nap Lajoie. This is a tremendous 1914 Cracker Jack #66 Nap Lajoie example, conservatively graded and ideal in all respects. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grade is $2,200, which based on its stellar condition for the grade and past auction results may be very low. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $5,629
