1934 R320 Goudey #37 Lou Gehrig - PSA EX-MT 6

  • Sold For: $2,133
  • Year: 1934
  • Auction: 2012 spring
  • Lot #: 455
  • Auction Category: Prewar Baseball Cards (1900-1941)

Graded EX-MT 6 by PSA. Bright and clean example of one of the most popular of all Lou Gehrig cards, and one of the most classic of all 1930s bubble-gum cards. Strong colors. Perfect registration and bright, bold colors. Centered slightly towards the top right (approximately 70/30 L/R and 35/65 T/B). The corners show a touch of light, even wear but are still square. The reverse of the card is also extremely clean, with bold green text. We grade this card slightly more conservatively than PSA at Ex, due to the left-to-right centering, a hint too much corner wear, and very tiny (barely noticeable) stain on the right border (perhaps of no consequence, extremely small), but it is still a beautiful example of one of Gehrig's most desirable cards, and the key card from this classic 1930s bubble-gum card series. The SMR value for the assigned grade is $2,950. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000.
