Superb collection of nine extremely rare sample cards from the E286 Ju-Ju Drums issue. Similar in appearance to the E254 Colgan's Chips issue, these disc-like cards (which measure 1-7/16 inches in diameter) were issued in 1910 with Ju-Ju Drum candy and present a black-and-white player image on front with company advertising on the reverse. This collection consists of the following: Two Bush, Cole, Dahlen, Harnion (Harmon), Hyatt, Mullin, Rowan, and Works. Each example is bright and crisp, presenting as Excellent or better on the front, with no creases or wrinkles visible. They would each grade a bit more modestly due to small spots of paper loss on the reverse, relegated to the edges in almost all cases, which do not detract at all from the advertising text or overall display value. To date, SGC and PSA have combined to grade only sixty-seven cards from this elusive issue. This is an extremely attractive collection of nine E286 examples, which would be superb additions to any prewar or sample-card collection. Total: 9 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000++.
