1925-1931 W590 Babe Ruth

  • Sold For: $960
  • Year: 1925
  • Auction: 2016 Fall
  • Lot #: 781
  • Auction Category: Prewar Baseball - 1910s and 1920s Cards

Graded GOOD 30 by SGC. Very attractive example of Babe Ruth from the W590 strip-card series. Ruth is depicted in a bat on shoulder pose as a member of the New York Yankees. The hand-cut card displays a crisp image and strong centering. The corners show light, even wear, and the blank reverse is entirely clean. Two creases are solely responsible for the assigned grade. This is a very presentable lower-grade example of one of Babe Ruth's most classic 1920s strip-cards and one that would be a significant addition to any Babe Ruth, strip-card, or prewar-card collection. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
