This extremely rare uncut sheet presents the complete set of twenty-one cards from the 1960 National Bank of Washington Tacoma Giants minor league issue. This is a rare and interesting set, featuring exclusively members of the Pacific Coast League Tacoma Giants, highlighted by the first appearance of Hall of Fame pitcher Juan Marichal on a baseball card. Other players included are Matty Alou, Dusty Rhodes, Tom Haller, and several others who went on to play in the major leagues. The set was regionally distributed in the Tacoma, Washington area only, which contributes to their extreme rarity. According to the Standard Catalog uncut sheets were sold at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma with either blank-backs (as offered here) or with a message from the local athletic commission. We do not recall ever seeing another uncut sheet of this issue, though it is certainly possible that others exist. Printed on a thin paper stock, the sheet is arranged in three rows of seven cards with a large margin on top, which includes blue, magenta, and yellow color spectrum lines. Crop marks are also visible in all four margins. The back of the sheet is blank. Bright and crisp, both front and back, with several creases and wrinkles throughout, tears on the bottom and left edges and a couple of spots of toning on the reverse. The Juan Marichal rookie card, which is situated dead-center of the sheet, displays exceptionally well and is an ideal highlight. This sheet would make an outstanding companion piece to any 1960 National Bank of Washington Tacoma Giants set or serve as an extraordinary addition to any uncut sheet or Pacific Coast League collection. Dimensions: 22.5 x 17.5 inches. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
