Graded VG 40 by SGC. Presented is an outstanding example of one of the great classics in all of card collecting: the extremely rare and desirable E90-1 American Caramel card of the legendary Joe Jackson. The E90-1 is one of just a handful of sets that include cards of Joe Jackson issued during his playing days. This card is also indisputably recognized as Joe Jackson's rookie card and is one of the rarest in the entire E90-1 American Caramel card set. The E90-1 American Caramel Joe Jackson has become universally recognized as one of card collecting's most valuable and famous vintage cards. Jackson was always a very rare card in the E90-1 set, but in recent years, it has become all the more apparent that this card is truly the key to the set. When E90-1 sets have been offered in recent years, more often than not, they are really sets minus one card: Jackson. This card dates from extremely early in Joe Jackson"™s career, when he was a member of Connie Mack"™s Philadelphia A"™s. Jackson played only ten games with the Athletics before Mack traded him to Cleveland. This is an exceptionally attractive and, for an E90-1 Jackson, a fairly high grade example of this extremely rare and important card. Bright and clean, both front and back, with a striking purple background, even wear to the corners, and centered slightly to the left with a diamond cut. The reverse is virtually flawless, with bold black print. If not for the diagonal crease in the lower right this card would have graded higher. As is so often the case with this card, the red representing Jackson's lips is placed slightly higher than intended. This is part of the charm of the E90-1 Joe Jackson. We cannot emphasis enough the tremendous eye-appeal this card displays! (And remember: very few E90-1 Jackson cards exist in high grade. VG condition for an E90-1 Jackson is statistically much more significant than VG condition for T205 or T206 tobacco cards. Of the fifty-five E90-1 Jacksons in the SGC Population report, thirty-two are graded lower than this example; only nine are graded higher, including two VG/EX 50 examples. These numbers speak for themselves, and even more so, in that this is such a strong card we believe it would compare very favorably to the two SGC VG/EX 50 examples.) This is a tremendous example of one of card collecting's most legendary rarities. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grade is $16,500. Reserve $5,000. Estimate $10,000+. SOLD FOR $16,590
