1934 R320 Goudey #61 Lou Gehrig, signed by Gehrig on the front. PSA/DNA has encapsulated the card and certified both the signature and card as "Authentic." Gehrig has signed the card in black fountain pen across his image, with the signature grading "6/7." Gehrig signed baseball cards are scarce, especially his card #61 from the 1934 R320 Goudey set, which is one of the most popular of all Lou Gehrig cards. This is just the fifth signed example we have seen and the first we have offered. The card displays a tiny abrasion on the front, which touches upon the top loop in "Lou," as well as moderate corner wear, light toning, and two areas of surface paper loss on the reverse. Despite the flaws, the card still presents well from the front and the signature contrasts beautifully against the light background of Gehrig's uniform. An outstanding signed example of one of Gehrig's most desirable cards. Reserve $2,500. Estimate (open).
