Graded VG-EX+ 4.5 by PSA. Extraordinary example of #30 Ty Cobb from the classic 1914 Cracker Jack series. The 1914 Cracker Jack Ty Cobb is universally recognized as one of card collecting's great classics, and one of Ty Cobb's most desirable and striking cards. 1914 Cracker Jacks are naturally much more difficult to find in high grade than their 1915 counterparts because the 1914 #144 series cards were only issued in boxes of Cracker Jack, while the 1915 set could be obtained as a factory set directly from the company by mail. Cobb is featured on this card in a batting pose set against a deep red background. Bright and crisp, both front and back, without a single trace of caramel staining, which so frequently plagues 1914 #144 series Cracker Jack cards. The card possesses outstanding color, an extremely bold red background, and light, even wear on the corners. Outstanding centering. The reverse is entirely clean with bold black print. A small crease in the lower left accounts for the assigned grade. This is a very rarely offered and ideal high-grade example of the most important of all Cracker Jack or Ty Cobb cards, and one that would be a significant highlight in any world-class collection of 1914 Cracker Jack, Ty Cobb, or classic vintage baseball cards. Reserve $10,000. Estimate $20,000++.
