Graded NM 7 by PSA (submitted by REA). Magnificent high-grade example of Mickey Mantle's true rookie card. This is a stunning card! One of card collecting's greatest classics, Mantle's Bowman rookie card is the key to the 1951 Bowman set, and one of the most popular and significant of all postwar baseball cards. This extremely striking example has four square corners with light touches of wear, vibrant colors, and excellent centering with a natural diamond cut on the left and right edges. Clean front and back, with no distracting print lines as are so commonly found with this card. The back is also particularly clean, with no wax wrapper or gum stains, which are often a problem with 1951 Bowmans. Recently, high-grade examples have soared to new levels, with 2020 sales of $38,400, $34,350, and $29,747 reported for PSA NM 7 examples. This 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle presents a particularly significant collecting and investing opportunity as it is such a strong and attractive example that rarely is offered in this grade! This is a magnificent high-grade example of one of collecting's most famous cards, and would be a worthy cornerstone to either a high-grade 1950s Mantle card collection or any world-class collection of classic baseball cards. This outstanding card originates from the collection of legendary pioneer collector Paul Pollard. Reserve $10,000. Estimate $20,000+.
