Graded MINT 9 by PSA. Only two examples grade higher out of 5,066 cards evaluated to date by PSA. Spectacular ultra-high-grade rookie card of Hall of Famer Ernie Banks from the extremely popular 1954 Topps issue. This is one of the finest examples of this classic card that we have ever seen or offered! The card has four sharp corners, bold colors, and a virtually flawless white background. The centering is exceptional, near-perfect all around, which is particularly notable for this card as it is so often subject to extremely serious centering problems. Clean and boldly printed reverse with a crisp green border free of any chipping. Banks is one of the key cards to the 1954 Topps set and is one of four Hall of Fame rookies making their Topps debut that year (Aaron, Kaline, and Lasorda are the other three). He is also the most difficult of the four to find in high grade, with only fourteen MINT 9s ever graded compared to twenty-four for Aaron and twenty each for Kaline and Lasorda. This is a stunning example of Ernie Banks' rookie card, in extremely high grade, is one of the most popular and classic of all 1950s bubble-gum cards, and would be a worthy addition to any world-class Ernie Banks, Hall of Fame rookie, or classic-card collection.
