Graded EX+ 5.5 by PSA. Outstanding high-grade example of Babe Ruth from the unusual and very scarce 1924 V122 Willard's Chocolates set. This 56-card multisport Canadian candy issue features only three baseball players (Ruth, Cobb, and Collins). These black-and-white cards (1-3/8 x 3-3/8 inches) are printed on thin cardboard stock with blank backs, and feature images that are unique to this set. Babe Ruth is naturally considered the key card and is pictured in an ideal follow-through batting pose. The card identifies Ruth under his name as the "Home Run Champion." The offered example displays a crisp image, centering slightly toward the right, and light corner wear. The blank back is clean. No one will ever confuse V122 Willard's with any other card issue, and the fact that they date from the mid-1920s, an era with very few baseball-card issues, is another important distinction of the set. This is a very attractive example of the key Hall of Famer from one of the most unusual sets of the 1920s. Reserve $10.
