Graded VG 40 by SGC. Beautiful mid-grade T213 (Type 2) of Ty Cobb in a portrait pose, one of the key cards to this elusive and extremely rare tobacco set. T213 (Type 2) Coupon Cigarettes is one of tobacco-card collecting's rarest and most overlooked sets. Similar in design and borrowing the same images as T206, this set was issued exclusively in the Louisiana area and is far rarer than its T206 counterparts. Because they were issued in 1914, they not only are one of the last of the traditional tobacco-card issues but also one of the few tobacco-cards sets to feature players identified with Federal League teams. Their connection and significance to the T206 set is especially fascinating due to cards identifying players with teams different than those indicated in the T206 set. In some ways, the T213 (Type 2) Coupon is an extension of the T206 set. This example has a bright red background, outstanding registration, and light corner wear. Clean reverse. Downgraded largely due to a light crease running through the left portion of Cobb's jersey. This is a strong example of perhaps the single most desirable key card in the set and one of Cobb's scarcest and most interesting tobacco cards. Opening Bid $10.
