Graded GOOD+ 2.5 by PSA. Offered is a pleasing example of this classic Lou Gehrig card from the desirable 1933 R333 DeLong Gum series. This is one of Gehrig's rarest 1930s cards and the key card to the DeLong Gum set. Gehrig, of course, is not just the highlight of the DeLong Gum set, it is one of the highlights of all Lou Gehrig cards and all 1930s gum cards. DeLongs have always been highly appreciated by advanced collectors. The small number of cards in the set, their relative scarcity compared to most others card sets of the era, their unique dimensions, design, and the fact that they were only a one-year issue all combine to give DeLongs a special mystique. This R333 DeLong Lou Gehrig example is exceptionally crisp with strong colors and slightly round corners. The reverse of the card is boldly printed and moderately toned. There are two light obtrusive creases on the front (neither of which obstruct the central image) noted for accuracy. The R333 is one of Gehrig's most desirable cards, and one of the most famous of all 1930s gum cards. The R333 Gehrig is also far rarer than Gehrig's 1933 Goudey counterparts, especially in high grade.
