Auction: Prewar Baseball - 1930s and 1940s Cards
Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Only two examples grade higher out of 145 cards evaluated to date by PSA. Spectacular high-grade example of this classic Babe Ruth card. The 1932 multisport set produced by U.S. Caramel is considerably rarer than Goudeys and most other 1930s sets and has long been recognized as among the most desirable issues of the era. With their distinctive red backgrounds, they are also widely regarded as one of the most striking of all baseball card issues. This is one of Ruth's rarest 1930s cards and one of the key cards to the U.S. Caramel set. This card has outstanding centering and is extremely bright and clean, both front and back, with strong corners. The reverse is clean with crisp, bold text. The R328 is one of Ruth's most popular and desirable cards and one of the most famous cards of the era. The R328 Ruth is also far rarer than his 1933 Goudey counterparts, especially in high grade. Being the last card in the set, the R328 Ruth tended to gravitate to the bottom of the stack, exposing it to much more wear than other cards and thus making high-grade examples far more difficult to find than most R328s and most other 1930s Ruth cards. This is a superb world-class example worthy of the finest U.S. Caramel set or Babe Ruth collection. Opening Bid $50,000.
