Within the realm of important and iconic sports moments, April 15, 1947, certainly has a place at or near the top of any list. It was on that spring day at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn that Jackie Robinson made his Major League debut, breaking baseball's color barrier and setting off on his Hall of Fame career. While the Brooklyn Dodgers were victorious against the visiting Boston Braves by a score of 5 to 3, the true victory of the day's events would resonate throughout the game of baseball for many years to come. Robinson would cement his place in the Dodgers' lineup for more than 1,300 games over the next decade, and his list of accolades would include the 1947 Rookie of the Year, the 1949 Most Valuable Player, six All-Star Game selections, and a 1955 World Championship. Presented here is a ticket stub to this remarkably significant game, one of only a handful offered for sale in recent memory. For many ticket collectors, the offered ticket represents a holy grail that links them to one of the most important moments in baseball - and United States - history. Sitting in section 36, row 24, and seat 18, someone was lucky enough to bear witness to Robinson's courageous display in the face of adversity and discrimination. The ticket, which is graded Authentic by PSA, presents beautifully, with clean and crisp edges and strong corners. At first glance, it is reminiscent visually of the record-setting example graded GOOD 2 by PSA, which sold for $480,000 in 2022. It has, however, been encapsulated as Authentic due to a horizontal crease, which broke through the paper and has been repaired on the reverse. The ticket also shows evidence of album residue on the reverse in the form of faint ruled lines. None of these flaws detract from the eye appeal and significance of the offered ticket. This is an extraordinary opportunity to acquire one of ticket collecting's most important relics and one of the most significant mementos from Jackie Robinson's illustrious career. Opening Bid $25,000.
