Personal check, dated June 7, 1948, signed by Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson. PSA/DNA has encapsulated the check and graded the signature GEM MINT 10. This check dates from Robinson's second season with the Dodgers and features his more desirable full name ("Jackie") signature. (Most Robinson checks circulating in the hobby today date from his post-playing career days, and are signed simply "Jack Robinson.") The check, drawn on the Chemical Bank & Trust Company of New York, is made out to his wife, "Rachel Robinson" for $50.00. (I. Magnin & Co. was a San Francisco-based luxury department store.) Signed “Jackie Robinson” in blue ink along the base. The notation "Paid Rachel Robinson" is visible along the reverse. While the Robinson family released many checks into the hobby in the years following Jackie’s death in 1972, those dating from his active playing career are scarce and much more highly prized by collectors. The check (8 x 3 inches) displays normal bank cancellation stamps and holes along with a spindle hole below "Rachel" along the front; Excellent condition overall. Opening Bid $10.
