1915 E106 American Caramel Honus Wagner Throwing SGC GOOD 30
Sold For:
$10,200
Year: 1915
Auction: 2024 November
Lot #: 7
Auction: Prewar Baseball - E Candy Cards
Graded GOOD 30 by SGC. The exceptionally rare 1915 E106 American Caramel issue shares designs with several other closely related candy issues (Croft's Candy, Nadja Caramels, Dockman & Sons, etc.) from the same era. Offered is a rare example of key Hall of Famer Honus Wagner (throwing). Only 20 examples of Wagner's throwing pose have been graded by SGC. These cards have glossy surfaces that are susceptible to cracking and severe condition problems, and as such, the majority of these examples are graded Fair, Poor, or Authentic. The offered card has bright colors, outstanding registration, moderate corner wear, and a large top border. The reverse has a bit of soiling. A couple of light creases factor into the assigned grade. In addition to being issued a few years later than most caramel cards and being particularly prone to condition issues due to their glossy surfaces, E106 American Caramel cards are also considerably rarer than most traditional "E" cards. This is an extremely scarce example of the legendary Honus Wagner. Opening Bid $10.
